ABOUT US

Peaceful Healing's mission is to provide validation, comfort, and healing to one's life experience, as well as offer evidence-based solutions that one can integrate into their daily life in order to breathe easier.

Peaceful Healing is owned by Jennifer Chicoine, M.A., LCPC, C-DBT.  She has been in practice since 2019. Her life's work is dedicated to helping others feel their best using only evidence-based practices that provide a solutions-oriented approach to treatment. Her experience includes piloting an Intensive Outpatient Program at a local Behavioral Hospital and being a proud former employee of the top-voted mental health provider in the south suburbs from 2020-2023.

Peaceful Healing offers counseling services for children (ages 4-12), teens (ages 13-17), adults, couples, siblings, and families.

What will you learn while at Peaceful Healing?

Empowering You with Tools That Last

At Peaceful Healing Counseling Services, therapy is more than just talking — it’s about learning. During your treatment, you'll gain practical tools and proven strategies from evidence-based approaches to help you manage emotions, build healthy boundaries, and create lasting change. Our goal is to equip you with lifelong skills that support your healing journey — both in and out of session.

Pediatric Therapy

Our approach to pediatric counseling is a Solution-Focused Therapy-Based Play, providing families with evidence-based solutions from a holistic perspective. All of our clinicians have expert training in behavior modification. The primary goal is to ensure that all the child's environments are setting them up for success, and if not, we will work with the child's family members, the child's school, and other treatment providers to ensure the child's behavior is being properly modified. The child will learn valuable social skills that they will be able to use across their lifespan. Parents will be involved in their child's treatment plan to learn how to maintain an effective parenting approach that will encourage positive behaviors in their children.

If you are struggling with your child under the age of 4 years old, give us a call.

Therapy for Teens

Our clinicians are trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). We offer services for teens for issues including: self-harm, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, behavior issues, school refusal, relationship/friendship issues, social anxiety, OCD, sibling relational problems, and parent-child relational problems.

PHP/IOP Stepdown Program

Our step-down outpatient services are designed to provide a seamless transition for individuals completing PHP or IOP programs. We continue using the same evidence-based approaches—such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care—to maintain consistency, reinforce skills, and support ongoing progress. This level of continuity helps clients stay grounded in the tools they’ve already learned, while gradually adjusting to increased independence in their daily lives. Our goal is to ensure each client feels supported, empowered, and confident as they move forward in their healing journey.

Therapy for Adults

Jen primarily utilizes a Client-Centered, Solution-Focused approach to therapy, involving the client in the development of their treatment plan. Along with a Client-Centered Therapy approach, Jen will incorporate Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), Soltions-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) as she sees fit to provide exceptional care. Jen will always utilize a holistic approach, focusing on the mind and body connection. Jen is certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and is obtaining a certification in Narcissistic Abuse Recovery.

Parent Support

Although becoming a parent is an incredible gift, parenting can also be mentally draining and stressful. We offer Parent Support for parents who are struggling with: parenting children with ADHD, caregiver burnout, aggressive behaviors within their children, emotional distress within their children or within themselves, high stress levels within the family dynamic, anxiety, and depression.

Couples Therapy

Jen identifies the relationship as the client when couples are in treatment. She will craft a treatment plan with the couple that will work best for their life, and Jen will assign weekly homework for the couple to build a strong, united front.

Treatment for Couples' Counseling is a 10-week program that focuses on building healthy communication, developing appropriate boundaries, building relationship rituals and virtues, learning about forgiveness from an affair (if applicable), identifying communication issues, learning conflict resolution, identifying and managing problems with intimacy, identifying the couple's strengths, and creating short- and long-term goals for a happy, lasting relationship.

Family Therapy

We utilize a Functional Family Therapy approach for families. During treatment, the client is the family dynamic, which will be nurtured throughout the entire process. This treatment program will help families build better communication and behaviors between siblings as well as each parent-child relationship within the family dynamic.

Treatment Approaches Offered

At PHCS, we offer a dynamic, individualized approach to care by integrating a range of proven, evidence-based therapies. Our clinicians thoughtfully tailor treatment using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Behavior Activation (BA), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP), Behavior Modification, Environmental Enrichment for Sensory Integration, Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Mindfulness, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). This comprehensive blend allows us to meet each client where they are—supporting emotional regulation, reducing symptoms, building resilience, and promoting meaningful, lasting change.

Meet Jen

Jen has been a counselor since 2019 and has been in private practice since 2020. In her spare time, Jen loves to spend time with her family and friends, cook and bake new recipes, tend to her garden, read books, and experience new restaurants and small towns with her husband. Jen's philosophy on life is, "the to-do lists will always be there for us to work on, but it is up to us to give ourselves permission to slow down and experience life the way we want it to be. The sooner you learn to live your life rather than roll through it, the happier you will be."
